Chasing the Light: Why Golden Hour in Destin is Unbeatable
I love photographing clients at The Henderson and being a Destin photographer.
“There is a specific kind of magic that happens on the Emerald Coast about thirty minutes before the sun dips below the horizon. As a Destin photographer, I call it the ‘Glow Phase.’ It’s that fleeting moment where the white sands of Destin turn into a soft peach, and the water reflects a million tiny diamonds.
In this post, I’m sharing my top three tips for nailing your beach session:
- Embrace the Wind: Don’t fight the sea breeze; let it add movement to your hair and dress. It creates that ‘ethereal’ look we all crave. But also, if it is a super windy day, wear your hair up or pinned back so it isn’t blowing in your face.
- Coordinate, Don’t Match: Move away from everyone wearing the exact same white polo. Think tonal blues, creams, and seafoam greens to compliment the landscape. Just stay away from heavy patterns and stripes.
- Have fun! Be yourself: Let your kids be themselves. If you see them struggling to stay on track, walk away for a few seconds. Let me work some magic. With two girls, 16 years apart, I’m a pro at lightening the mood and creating fun.
